Air Canada is adding new non-stop international routes for the winter season. Toronto passengers can jet to Belize and St. Vincent in the Caribbean, while Montrealers can fly directly to Phoenix starting in February 2018. The Manitoba Museum has new exhibits and events planned for fall 2017. Until January 7, 2018, the Legacies of Confederation: A New Look at Manitoba History exhibit features iconic artifacts and specimens relaying the effects of Confederation on the Red River people and the land that would become Manitoba. From September 27 to October 15, two exhibits, Eyes on the Arctic and Northern Stars, focus on historical and modern stories of Indigenous groups, revealing their adaptability, the global significance of the region, and the important cultural connections and institutional ties between the U.S. and Canada. From October 28 to November 5, Journey of a Lifetime explores the seminal role the railway colonist sleeper car played in opening our country to settlement. There’ll be no post-holiday blues for rock fans thanks to three explosive five-day music cruises that set sail from Florida in early 2018. To regulate the flow of tourists visiting the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu in Peru, new government rules came into effect on July 1, 2017. There are now two periods allowed for visits—from 6 a.m. until noon and from noon until 5:30 p.m. If a visitor wishes to remain the entire day, they must purchase both tickets. Visitors must also hire a guide, who will give them a ticket to re-enter the site the next day if they wish. It should be noted that tickets already booked and purchased between now and December 2017 will not face the new restrictions. peru.travel
